Glendale City Hall

The reason for our trip to California was for our first Peters/Scollick family reunion! It was so great to see our California family and get reacquainted! Our first stop of this day was to tour the Glendale City Hall where our Grandpa Peters was the mayor for two terms and also served as a city councilmen. My grandpa passed away almost 30 years ago so it was so fun for all of us to learn more about his life. He loved being involved in serving his community, state, and country.

My handsome grandpa - William Howard Peters

His two children - Susan & Dennis sitting in the chair he would have sit in several time to hold meetings. Town hall did not know what hit them when we showed up! They were so kind to let us take over this room for awhile!!

They were in the process of renovating and so they gave us a tour of the old jail house that is no longer in use, but several movies and tv shows have been filmed. The kids thought it was pretty cool.

Our next stop was to my Grandpa's building where he once had his office. It is now being used my this wonderful artist who has designed several posters for Disney movies like "The Little Mermaid". Here he is showing the kids how his dad taught him to draw Mickey Mouse & when he first realized he had a natural talent!

Next stop was Brand Park for lunch! Here are the Scollick & Peters kids! I think the last time we were all together was when we stopped in California for a week after returning home from our mission in 1991!
